Description
The Vicario armchair was designed by Vico Magistretti in the late 1960s for Artemide. It was in production from 1970 until the mid-1970s.
Made of ABS plastic, this armchair is characterised by fluid forms and a perfect balance of design, functionality and comfort.
An icon of futuristic Italian design, it was used in the TV series ‘Spazio 1999’ and is currently exhibited in the world’s greatest museums, including MoMA and the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York and the Musée Des Arts Décoratifs Of Montreal in Canada.
Ludovico ‘Vico’ Magistretti (Milan, 6 October 1920 – Milan, 19 September 2006) was one of Italy’s most important designers, architects and urban planners. His clean, essential design characterised and inspired the world of home, office and business furniture throughout the latter part of the 20th century.
The legendary Italian lighting company Artemide was founded in the province of Milan in 1959 by the designer and engineer Ernesto Gismondi, born in Sanremo in 1931, and the designer Sergio Mazza, born in Milan in 1931.
